Learning, progress and fees

What will my child learn?

Starter first: the board, how each piece moves, check, checkmate, draws and the special rules. Then Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, each opened by passing an exam. See the curriculum.

Does my child need to know chess already?

No. Starter is written for children who have never played. Rooky shows each rule, the child plays it, then practises it before the quiz.

Can a child really learn chess on a computer?

Yes, because they play every move themselves instead of watching. Rooky checks each move and helps when they're stuck. Quizzes, exams and reviews make it stick.

How do I see my child's progress?

Sign in as a parent with your phone number and a code we send on WhatsApp. You will see each child's lessons, quiz and exam results, games and certificates.

What are the certificates?

When a child passes a level, they get a certificate with their exam score, signed by our founder, a FIDE Master. It is a ChessDoer achievement, not a FIDE rating or a school board qualification.

Can my child practise at home?

Yes. The same batch code, face and PIN work on any computer with a modern browser.

How are fees paid, and can I get a refund?

Fees are paid online through your school's ChessDoer link, using Razorpay. Read our refund policy for when we refund a payment.

Schools

Running ChessDoer in your lab

What does the school need?

Computers with a modern browser and an internet connection. There is nothing to install.

How does a class run?

Children sign in with their batch code, face and PIN, then continue where they stopped. Rooky teaches the next lesson, checks each move and gives hints, while the teacher sees progress for the whole batch.

Who runs the class?

Any teacher can supervise, because Rooky teaches and checks every step. A chess teacher, if you have one, can use the progress pages to help children who need it.

How do we start?

Book a demo. We set up your school, sort students into batches from your class list and give you printable PIN sheets. We can start with a pilot period.

Which countries do you work in?

ChessDoer is run by FIDE Master Honi Arora from Jaipur, Rajasthan, built for schools in India and across Europe. Lessons are in English.

Safety and data

How we look after children

Is the AI coach a chatbot?

No. Children can't type to Rooky or to anyone else. Rooky works inside lessons and games: it explains moves, gives hints during games and shows mistakes after a game.

What data do you keep about my child?

Name, school class, batch, a drawn face (no photos), the sign-in PIN and their learning records. The privacy policy lists everything.

Do you show ads?

No. We do not show advertising or build advertising profiles of children.

Who can see my child's progress?

Your child's school and you, the parent. Classmates in the same batch see first names and points on the batch leaderboard.

How do I delete my child's data?

Write to [email protected] from your registered contact. We delete it within 30 days, except invoices we must keep by law.
